The Conwy Early Years Forum is a multi disciplinary group of organisations working in partnership to promote quality care, education and development for early years children in the county of Conwy.
The forum is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee.
(Charity number 1067459 Company number 3431738).
We are funded by Conwy County Borough Council Education Services, the big lottery and small grants from different places.
The Forum operates a mobile toy library which visits over 150 early years childcare settings in the county offering quality educational toys. We work closely with the education services department teaching staff who are advisors to the voluntary early years sector. This ensures we have appropriate toys to link in with themes etc, which are current with the childcare practitioners needs and the criteria they adhere to for care standards, funding initiatives, teaching practices, the foundation phase and so on.
We have established routes for visits throughout the county so if you are a current member and would like to look at our range of toys and place an order, please do so. You can e.mail the order to us direct from this website.
If you would like to become a member of our toy library please contact us.
Please be patient with us as this website is under construction! Not all of the toys are listed at present…..we are working as fast as we can! Also our Welsh language web site is currently being developed.

Quarter of a million pounds to establish a new Toy library in the rural areas of Conwy.
The Conwy Early Years Forum will be using its £246,241 award from the Big lottery fund to develop a new mobile toy library service for parents and young children in the county. Over the next three years the grant will assist in the provision of vehicles, toys and staff for the project which aims to bring a toy lending service to young families across Conwy. In particular, the project will focus on some of the more rural areas of the county.
Suzanne Keegin, project manager of the charity, was delighted to receive the award and said, “Our toy librarian is constantly receiving requests from parents to borrow toys and until now we have not been able to offer this facility as we currently only operate our toy library for childcare settings. This will really help us expand our services in the communities we currently work in”
The new project will mean the charity running 'stay and play' sessions across the rural areas of Conwy which will offer quality toys for parents to take home on loan, parenting skills information and sessions on active play which encourages physical activity in young children, “ this is part of our commitment to healthy lifestlyles for parents and children in Conwy. By focussing our work through play we are encouraging involvement from as many children and parents as possible.” They will also be establishing a volunteering scheme for parents to gain experience and skills.
The new project will be based in Betws Y Coed at the old doctors surgery which is now a Welsh speaking Day Nursery called Wyngarth at Tan Y Bryn.
Stop Press….
Suzanne Keegin our project manager has just returned from the International Toy Library conference in Paris. It was a very informative week and she has returned with lots of ideas to improve our service. There were over 700 delegates from around the world, which made for a very interesting time. |
